Choose when your server updates

You choose when your server updates, including security updates. Set it per server in HQ, under Settings, Updates.

The four choices

Update as soon as it’s out (the default). If nobody’s on, it updates straight away; if players are online, they get a warning 5 minutes and 1 minute before.
Update at my quiet time, a daily time in UK time. Players whose game has already updated can’t join until then.
Ask me first. We email you with an Update now button and show it on the server page.
Don’t update (hold this version). On games that check versions, players whose game has updated may not be able to join.

A waiting update also installs at the next restart.

Every update takes a backup first, and if the server doesn’t start afterwards, Undo update brings the old build and the world back.

HQ never installs an update for you. When a build fixes a security problem, we show a banner and email you, recommending it, with the reason.

Players can’t join after the game updated

Their game is newer than the server. Choose Update now in HQ, or change the setting to Update as soon as it’s out.
