How much memory does a Rust server need?

Pick by players first: slots are the most players the server accepts. Then allow for your map and plugins, because big maps and long plugin lists use more memory.
Rust plans
Every plan has its memory reserved for your server.
| Size | Memory | Players | Suits | Price a month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Friends | 10 GB | 50 | Up to 50 players | £17.99 |
| Community | 14 GB | 100 | Up to 100 players | £27.99 |
| Public | 16 GB | 200 | Up to 200 players | £39.99 |
Rust plans and what each includes
Map size and plugins
- A procedural map is 1000 to 6000 metres wide (3000 by default). Bigger maps use more memory.
- Long plugin lists use more memory too, so a heavily modded server may want the next size up.
- The world size applies to a new map, so change it at your next wipe.
Changing size later
- Moving up charges the difference for the days left in your billing period.
- Moving down pays the difference for the days left back to your card, or keeps it as credit if you prefer.
- You see the amount before you confirm.
If it doesn’t work
The server lags when it’s busy
Look at memory and processor use in HQ while players are on. If memory is close to full, move up a size or trim the plugin list.
